Tag for purse

So tonight i'm going over to moms to work on the purse again! She suggested to me last time to make a little stitched tag that said handmade by Cat or something. So I of course couldn't just stitch handmade I had to add something. So I found a cute soda pattern that had a kitty in it and some scissors and spool of thread. Its going to be a little big but I hope it'll look cute. Here it is so far....

I'm not too sure about the scissors and the thread... think I might move them down going to finish the kitty first and see how it looks.

It's all Greek

So awhile back I talked about dying some fabric to a dark navy blue to do a Greek pattern for John's Uncle. So I sat down and started to stitch it.... by the way the pattern was a woman dancing. I got one arm done and couldn't take it anymore! The pattern was horrible!!!! It was so tiny and hard to read so I gave up and created my own pattern of the Greek Flag. Hopefully he will enjoy it just the same. I only have a couple rows left to stitch on the bottom. Then find a cute frame and send it on its merry way.

More projects!

I just couldn't help myself. Yesterday I went shopping for a new iron and went to the craft store (cuz I had a 50% off coupon) but they had nothing in stock! But they had their clearance fabrics 50% off so I got these two and figured i'll make my own shopping bags. (John broke the handle on one of ours while we were out getting groceries yesterday too)
Also back when I was trying to find a pattern for my purse I went looking through all the pattern books at the store. And I found this one
I thought it would work pretty good but it was $18. Which I think is just a bit too much for a pattern!!! But guess what... they had a sale! LOL it was only 99 cents!! I should of went through more of the pattern book and bought more patterns they were all that price. So I got the fabric on sale and the pattern on sale.... but I still have a 50% off coupon.... hmmmmm what to else should I buy. Of course I went in the stitching section and found this.
I thought she was so pretty. And I usually don't buy kits. But at half off this was a really decent buy.

Sadly I still really haven't started any projects. I need to get my butt off the computer and start something! I really should start that Greek one for John's Uncle. Oh I did get my container for the TU SAL I promise i'll have stuff in it by the 14th so I can get a picture of it!!!

Goodies and Purse update

Well I was slightly dumb and forgot to wash my fabrics for the purse. So mom and I figured out the pattern (in newspaper) and I've got instructions on what I need to do so we can move on from there. While I was there my mom asked me if I had a sewing box... No but I've been looking at them at the craft store lately. So she asked me if I wanted a hand me down one from my Great Grandma. Well of course!!! It does need a bit of work... some cleaning and a new clasp and it will be great.

Also she had a big square frame (thanks Yoyo) from when she use to do embroidery on pillows and stuff so she gave me that. (total score! I only have little hoops)

Then she also gave me some fabric to take a stab at making my own quilt! I got so excited. I've wanted to make one for awhile. I'm going to make me a couch size one cuz the blanket I use on my couch now is little and thin so I want something a bigger and heavier. So i'm planning on starting that soon. It's some really pretty fabric. The yellow has just little hearts on it. And the blue and pink have swirly hearts and the last has butterflies and glitter.

Oh and also since I haven't gotten a chance to post this pic here is the blue fabric I dyed. I haven't been able to start stitching on it either. Hopefully really soon.

Hmmmm I'm starting to think I've got too many projects going on in my mind... I need to go start working on one!

Comments working!

I believe it is all fixed! Finally everyone should be able to post comments for me! Now load me up with lots.... i'm waiting... why aren't you posting anything. :)
So today I was catching up on people blogs. And Blu over at Therapy by Thread was posting about this TUSAL (Totally Unusual SAL) it seems like a pretty cute idea. You just collected all your bits from stitching and collect them in a clear container. So I joined! It's Dragon My Needle blog.

Fabric for purse

So I went to the fabric store yesterday while I was in town. John helped me pick out some fabric.I'm not sure what ones I want on the outside and what should be the inside lining. I'm going to my mom's on Sunday to work on the purse.

So until Sunday I need something to keep me busy. I said awhile ago that I was going to make another "Greek" style stitch for John's Uncle because hes such a sweetheart and does so much for his family. So John helped me pick out a Greek looking pattern. And it looks pretty simple... it's all white crosses! Will probably drive me nuts but it is pretty. But since its all white stitching I needed a dark blue fabric. And sadly I don't have any specialty stores around to buy fabric at.

So I decided i'll dye my own. So last night I dyed some white fabric with a navy blue dye. I just washed it out and at first it looked too dark. But as it's drying some it's lightening up some. So hopefully by the time it's fully dry it will be the right color i'm looking for. I'll post some pics of it once it's dry.

Soda Purse pt. 2

So this is after two more days of stitching time. It's moving along quite nicely. One thing I did forget to mention in my last post is when I pulled my cloth out of its plastic it was soft! I've never seen one not starched. In some ways its extremely nice and others ways its not so.

Soda Purse pt. 1

So I decided to go with....

I went to the store on Wednesday to pick up my threads and they were missing three! So I had to go to another store to get the other three. While I was at the first store I pick up some cute black wooden handles from a cute company called Purse n-alizeit! and some magnet claps to use.

I had forgotten a picture of the pattern or I would of also picked out some fabric for the purse. But I figured i'd get to stitching the pattern and get the fabric at a later date. I also picked up some new plastic bobbin things and the number stickers to go on them. So I got home and had some fun putting the stickers on the bobbins and winding my thread on them. (Does anyone else hate doing this part?) So then I got down to the dirty part. Counting out my fabric. I've always been a counter I don't like to guesstimate and then have lots of extra or not enough fabric. I did add an extra 50 squares all around so I'd have enough room to play with when it came time to stitch it in the bag. Then I decided it might be easier to do this pattern if I did the grid lines. So then finally last night while I was watching the Dick Clark Rocking New Years Eve show on tv (Happy New Year everyone!) I got to finally get some actually stitching done.

It hasn't progressed too far yet. I'm hoping to get some more done today. Wish me luck!

New Project

Well I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. I got to thinking awhile ago that I want to take a stab at making my own purse. I saw one that Blu did on her blog over at Therapy by Thread. And now I want to take a stab at one. I got turned on to this Korean company called Soda and I've wanted to do one of their patterns for awhile now and I figured it would make an adorable purse! But now I need to figure out which pattern I want to use. I've managed to narrow the field down to 7! Now if you all can be so kind and help me pick one, I'd forever be thankful! Otherwise I'll prolly still be sitting here deciding which to use a year from now.

Alright so far the votes are
#1 - 1
#2 - 1
#3 - 1
#4 - 2
#5 - 0
#6 - 0
#7 - 2

Also it seems that a lot of people are having trouble posting comments to my blog. Does anyone know why this might be happening?

Christmas

Well I haven't really been able to stitch too much really. Right before Thanksgiving we found out my dad needs to have bypass surgery. They all kept saying they were so surprised at how well my dad is considering how bad it is (we found out he has to have five bypasses). But yet they didn't schedule the surgery til tomorrow (Dec. 8th). So I have been trying to just do what I can to help dad. I have managed to get a few more Christmas cards done. Which I will scan and post them all cuz most of them turned out lovely! And I did manage to do this Kyo pattern that Dawn gave to me. (I guess mojo designed it). I tried to see if I could fit Yuki next to him but hes too big. I wonder if I can shrink him down? Well i'm packed with stitching stuff to sit and try to do tomorrow in the waiting room. Wish us luck!
