Antiques...

Well maybe not actually Antiques... but all was bought yesterday at antique stores.

We ended up going to an antique mall.... Technically it's 6 antique stores all next to each other. We managed to make it through 3 of them before they closed! And I found something in all three of them!

The first store I found this... it was just too cute to pass up for 2 dollars





Then I was amazed when we went into the second store and found these for 50 cents each! I just love the Mary one. The Santa I just couldn't pass up for 50 cents.



And in the last one I found these wonderful fabrics. One for 2 dollars the other for 4. Not sure what i'll make with them yet but I couldn't pass up the Chinese food one!




Also I found this cute little purse for 2 dollars in the last store with the fabrics. It has Scooby on it so I just had to buy it.




Once we got home I really wasn't in any mood to stitch so I did not work on Brighter Tomorrows. I think after we go see the movie with mom i'm going to go visit my new cross stitch store and see if they have some pretty green fabric I can stitch the Lizzy Kate Merry Christmas pattern I started buying. Also need to grab a few over-dyed threads for the dog and cat patterns I picked up last time. I've never used over-dyed threads. Is there really anything special about them?

Update on Brighter Tomorrows

Well we were suppose to go to an old car show today but it's rainy and cloudy out. *pouts* I did manage to get all the crosses done on Brighter Tomorrows yesterday.



Now to work on the backstitching. Wish me luck! I should have this done in another two days or so, if I have time to stitch.

Tomorrow we are meeting my mom in town to go see Iron Man 2. Yay! But other than that I should be able to stitch all day!

Can't sleep

Well i'm sitting here still awake. I know I need to just go lay down and relax and sleep will come to me at some point. But I thought i'd post Emily's birthday prezzies since she got them in the mail today.

What I've been working on and was driving me nuts was a purse. The pattern I got was so extremely confusing so I just sewed it together how I saw fit. She loves it!





I also got her two candle holders...



a garden stake...



and I made her a scissor fob...



I don't think she really loves frogs... I just find too many frogs to buy for her. :)

Lol I just couldn't help myself I love cookie monster and this song! I sang it last night!



These are my all-time favorite cookies. Peanut Butter chip & chocolate chip! Yummy Yummy Yummy! That picture isn't even all the cookies I made! John had already ate about 6 of them and i'd snuck a few in between batches, and I made a few with nuts in them for dad. So maybe add about another 30 or so cookies to that pile!

The recipe is an adaption of the Hersey's classic chocolate chip cookie.

2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
12 oz package of chocolate chips
12 oz package of peanut butter chips
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Heat oven to 375F. Stir together flour, baking soda, and salt. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla in large bowl with mixer until creamy. Add eggs, beat well. Gradually add flour mixture, beating well. (this will seem very thick) Stir in chips and nuts, if desired. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto cookie sheet. Bake for 8 to 10 mins.

Don't ya just love spring

First off I feel special! I got a gold star from Missy at Dork Stitch. Thanks!



Now onto the spring title. I just love the changing of the trees. From Spring to summer to fall to winter. I love the drastic changes in only a couple weeks. For example... I live on the corner of a dirt road and a paved road, in the middle of the country. This first picture was taken from the middle of the dirt road only about a week and a half ago.



And this one was taken yesterday.



It's just so pretty!

On a stitching note I've been working on Brighter Tomorrows. Sadly I've had to frog two leaves. I've been miss counting them and putting them too close to the flowers. And let me tell you these flowers are kinda a pain to stitch! Not really sure why but they bother me!

Early Mother's Day for my Mom

So yesterday we went over to my mom's. I gave her her Mother's Day presents early, since we might be in NY for Mother's Day. I made her dinner of scallop potatoes and ham. All she has to do is cook it. I believe she's making it tonight. Also made her a mom keychain



a mother's necklace (with her birthstone, and mine and my little brother Johnnies...we share the same birthstone)



and a box. The picture didn't come out great, still can't take great close ups with this camera. I used cute little shimmery blue silver beads on it too.



She loved all the presents. Even the cute stuffed bear I showed you guys earlier. So anyways we tried working on Emily's birthday present. Lol I say tried, she agrees the pattern directions made no sense. So today i'm just going to work on it with directions in my head. Some day i'll get it finished and mailed to you Emily.

Happy Birthday Em!



Well first off we need to sing happy birthday to Emily. LOL! Happy Birthday!!!! The kitty froggy wanted to come say Happy Birthday.

And since your present isn't out in the mail yet. (It should be done today!) Here is a teaser of part of your present!



And in other stitching news I have been working on putting together my mom's Mother's Day present. I'm going over there today because it looks like we might be in NY for Mother's Day. Eleni has found a doctor for her surgery. I'll take some pictures of her things and post them tomorrow most likely.
